"The aim is to push a man to the absolute limits of his endurance, then push some more!" - Thierry Sabine, the founder of the original Dakar.

Without a shadow of a doubt the ‘Dakar’ is the toughest motor-sport event in the world.

Created 25 years ago by the late Thierry Sabine it is a 10,000 kilometre, 18 day race across some of the most inhospitable terrain to be found anywhere in the world.

Incredibly hard on car or truck competitors, it takes on a whole new dimension when raced on a motorcycle. Physically exhausting, it also requires huge skill, nerves of steel and levels of determination that few mortals possess.
