 | Riders for Health |
Patsy is very conscious that the Paris Dakar race travels through a deprived part of the world. As such she has chosen to support a charity set up by motorbikers to bring medical care to isolated communities in Africa. Promoted by the late great John Deacon, Riders for Health puts doctors on motorbikes and sends them to inaccessible regions.
These doctors are often the only source of medical care on offer to children and their families in these remote settings. Founded in 1989 by members of the motorcycle community, Riders for Health is an award winning International charity. Ensuring that motorcycles and other land-based transport run for the maximum amount of time at the lowest possible cost means that health and welfare services can reach isolated communities in Africa. Only by training local people in appropriate vehicle management techniques can capacity be built and vital life-saving services get to those that need them most. |
